Every Ultimate Team season starts the same way: EA releases a batch of welcome SBCs in the first days, with rewards that help you build your club from scratch. They’re among the most profitable of the year, because they ask for cheap squads and give back packs that are worth a lot at that moment.

The problem is the usual one: building them by hand, card by card, looking for who fits each requirement. Here’s how to approach them and how to solve them without thinking.

What an SBC is and why the welcome ones matter

An SBC (Squad Building Challenge) is a challenge where you hand in a squad that meets certain requirements and get a reward. You lose the squad: the cards you put in disappear from your club.

The ones in the first weeks have three things going for them:

  • They ask for little. Low ratings and soft requirements, because EA knows nobody has a club yet.
  • They give packs when packs are valuable. A good card on day 3 is worth much more than the same card in January.
  • You pay for them with what you have left over. The duplicates from your starter packs, which would otherwise end up in limbo.

New in FC 27: points-based SBCs

EA FC 27 brings two types of SBC:

  • Streamlined SBCs: you don’t have to build an XI. Each card is worth points based on its rating and rarity, and the challenge asks you to reach a score. Duplicate cards count, you can hand in part of it, save and finish another day, and some ask for a minimum rating per card. EA uses them for most player and upgrade SBCs.
  • Classic SBCs: the usual ones, with a full squad, chemistry, leagues, nations and rating. They’re kept for «puzzle»-style challenges.

Points-based SBCs can also be done from the Web App.

FC 27’s starter SBCs

They’re in the Foundations group of SBCs. They don’t expire or refresh (except the «Re-roll» ones, which are repeatable). Names as they appear in the game in English:

  • Getting Started: four very cheap challenges (A New Signing, The Bronze and Silver Lining, The Multi Submit and The Royal SBC). Completing the group: 1,000 coins and 5 boosts of 500. It can only be done once and you need it for the welcome objectives (First Team Dreams).
  • Intro to SBCs: challenges with 1 to 4 players to learn how they work. At the end, a mixed player pack.
  • Intro to Upgrade SBCs: full squads of bronzes, silvers and golds that you swap for better packs.
  • League & Nation Advanced: three classic league and nation challenges. Completing the group: 5,000 coins and a Jumbo gold pack.
  • Bronze and silver Re-roll and gold Re-roll: repeatable, to turn cards you don’t need into a gold player.

Requirements and rewards according to fifauteam.com; EA may change them during the season.

Classic SBC requirements

In classic SBCs the names change every year, but the types of requirement are always the same:

  • Team rating: the minimum rating of the XI. It’s the one that costs the most coins.
  • Chemistry: minimum chemistry points, which forces you to group players by league, club or nation.
  • Players from a league or nation: a minimum number of cards from a specific place.
  • Rarity: rare cards, TOTW or a specific type.
  • Number of players: sometimes 11, sometimes the whole squad.

How to spend as little as possible

1. Start with what you already have

Before buying anything, look at your club. In the first days you pile up duplicates fast and many of them fit without you noticing. NokaFut’s Duplicates to SBC feature adds them all at once, and they don’t leave your club until you submit the challenge.

2. Rating is where the money goes

Raising a team’s rating isn’t linear: each point costs quite a bit more than the last. The cheap way to hit a rating is to mix lots of low-rated cards with one or two high ones, not to raise them all equally.

That’s a calculation, not a hunch, and eyeballing it costs coins. The extension’s SBC calculator gives you every rating combination that reaches the target, starting with the one that uses the most cheap cards.

3. Keep the cards from expensive leagues

In the first days, cards from the most-played leagues are worth a lot more than their rating. Throwing them into a filler SBC is wasting coins. With the squad builder you can tell it which leagues, nations and rarities not to touch, and that exclusion stays saved for the next ones.

4. Don’t buy before you calculate

The most expensive mistake of the first days: buying cards «just in case» for an SBC you haven’t worked out yet. Work out the solution first and only buy what’s missing.

The SBC Solver: the solution worked out with your cards

The NOK-AI SBC Solver does exactly that, and it’s built into the NokaFut extension: you open the challenge in the Web App, click a button and it shows you several squads that meet every requirement, with what each one costs. It’s not a list of generic solutions copied from somewhere else: it uses your cards and, if any are missing, the cheapest ones on the market.

It works for both types: in classic SBCs it builds the squad that meets chemistry, leagues and rating, and in points-based ones it picks the cards that reach the required score while spending as little as possible.

It works with any plan, including the free one.

Frequently asked questions

Is it worth doing them on day one?

The welcome ones, yes. Their rewards help you get started and the cards they ask for are cheap before the market fills up. The expensive player SBCs are worth looking at calmly.

Can I do them from the Web App?

Yes, and in fact it’s the easy way: SBCs are completed the same way from the browser as from the console. You’ll find access details and dates on the EA FC 27 Web App page.

What if I’m missing a specific card?

The Solver also pulls from the market: it shows you the solution including cards you don’t have yet, so you know exactly what to buy and how much it will cost before you spend anything.

Do I lose the cards I put in?

Yes, when you submit the SBC. But while they’re just placed, no: you can undo and get them back. Always check the squad before hitting submit.

How much of this is free?

Most of it. NokaFut is free for almost everything it does, and paid features tell you inside the extension before you use them, with a link to upgrade to PREMIUM or SUPERPREMIUM. If something is paid, you know right away.

Note: NokaFut is a third-party tool. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to Electronic Arts. Using external tools on the Web App —and especially the automations in the paid tiers— goes against EA’s terms of service and may lead to penalties on your account. The decision to use it is yours.
